Judy Gysin Represents Mid Valley REALTORS® in Transit Task Force

March 3, 2026

For Judy Gysin, getting involved in the community has meant a little light reading.

Well, maybe more than a little. And not exactly “light.”

Judy and her husband, Greg, are principal brokers with The Gysin Group at Premiere Property Group LLC in Salem. Earlier this year, she was asked by MVAR to represent our industry on a task force with Cherriots, the local mass transit district.

At issue is whether Cherriots will impose an employer payroll tax to pay for service expansion and safety improvements. Last year, the district proposed a 0.7% tax that would raise $39 million annually. Business owners pushed back and Cherriots ultimately agreed to form the task force to garner additional input and work toward a consensus.

Each task force member was assigned to read 300 pages of information on the Cherriots’ budget and operations as they prepared for their first meeting in January. It was a big undertaking, Judy said, though it was important to set the table for what will be serious conversations in the coming months.

“This absolutely has the potential to impact our industry,” she said. “What’s encouraging is that business owners from across different sectors can come together and have a real voice in shaping what recommendations could look like.”

A Meaningful Impact

Throughout her career, Judy has strived to make a meaningful impact working in real estate.

Before joining the business, Judy remembers she used to read through Homes & Land magazine and would watch “Real Estate 100,” a show on local cable TV hosted by Midge Houck. Eventually, it was Greg who encouraged her to pursue her dream job.

“One of the most meaningful experiences has been working with clients through multiple life stages, including first homes, growing families, downsizing, and retirement moves,” she said. “Being part of those milestones over the last 25 years has created lasting relationships that go far beyond a transaction.”

Over the years, Gysin said she has weathered the ups and downs through multiple market cycles, which has only strengthened her passion and commitment.

“Real estate allows me to combine strategy, negotiation, and genuine connection,” Judy said. “This industry also gave me flexibility to be present as my children grew up, attending school programs, cheering at sporting events, and showing up for the everyday moments that matter most.”

‘Judy By The Book’

Being a part of MVAR has provided vital education, advocacy, and professional standards that have strengthened her business and the industry as a whole, Judy said.

During her time serving on the Board of Directors, Judy came to be known by her colleagues and friends as “Judy by the Book” and the “Bylaw Queen” due to her knowledge and professionalism, according to Sarie Scott, Judy’s daughter.

Outside of work, Gysin said she most enjoys spending time with family — particularly her two granddaughters. She and Greg also love spending time in their garden and getting out in the community to support local businesses and charitable organizations.

“After 25 years in this industry, I’ve learned that balance truly fuels longevity, both personally and professionally,” she said. “Taking time to nurture the relationships and activities that matter most allows me to show up fully for my clients and my business.”
